Approving a Version of InventorySettings.xml

To approve a version of InventorySettings.xml, perform the following steps.

To approve a specific version of the InventorySettings.xml file:

  1. Go to the Inventory Settings page ( Data Collection > IT Asset Inventory Tasks > Inventory Settings ).
  2. Expand the Inventory extensions version section.
  3. Change the value of Rule for InventorySettings.xml setting to Always use the approved version .

    • The selection will show in brackets the value of the last version approved by your organization or the most recent version if a specific version has not been approved.

  4. Choose a version of the InventorySettings.xml file by selecting the corresponding row in the table.

    • You can only select a version that is higher than your organization's currently approved version.

  5. Click the Approve version button on the top right of the table.
    • A confirmation dialog appears indicating that the approval of a specific version will prevent future updates and that once a specific version has been approved you can no longer approve a lower version.
  6. Click the Save button to save your changes or the Cancel button to revert changes.
  7. At any point in the future if you wish to change back to having the InventorySettings.xml file automatically updated to the latest version, do the following:
  8. Change the value of Rule for InventorySettings.xml setting to Always use the latest version .
  9. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
    • A confirmation dialog appears indicating that once you switch back to automatic updates you can no longer approve a lower version.
  10. Click the Save button to save your changes or the Cancel button to revert them.
